Louie Bernard

Yesterday our 2nd son, Louie Bernard Alexander was born at 6:56pm. My labor was induced that morning after going 4 days past our due date. Louie weighed in at 7 lbs, 2 oz and measuring 19 inches long. Although he is in good health and both he and I are doing fine, he kept our day exciting and our nurses busy as his heart rate kept dropping almost every time they increased my medication or I changed position and he gave us quite a scare during the actual delivery. I'm not sure how low his heart rate dropped, but after my 2nd contraction of pushing, it became obvious that something was wrong and my doctor and the nurses were preparing to deliver a baby that needed resuscitation. I was told that if I could, I needed to get the baby out on the next contraction and when I did, the umbilical cord had a knot in it and was wrapped twice around Louie's neck. He was purple and not crying when he came out, but my doctor quickly cut the cord and he immediately began to cry. As I said, he is perfectly fine now, but we definitely want to thank everyone for all the well wishes and prayers as I'm sure they helped our little guy make a safe arrival into the world.

Here are some of his first photos. (Oh, and there is a photo of the umbilical cord, so be prepared)

Pictures of Then @ UD

This past summer, my friends Toni, Maribel (both of whom you've probably seen on the blog before) and I met the band Pictures of Then in Nebraska. We didn't get to hear them play in concert, but we did have a lot of fun jamming out with them, and they agreed to let us know when they'd play a show in Dallas.
This past Monday, they played a small last-minute gig at our alma mater, University of Dallas and we went. It was a great acoustic show and it was cool for us to see them perform live. These are some of the photos I took that night. I highly recommend you look them up on itunes and download some of their music! I especially like 7th Street and Nowhere Is Somewhere.

Cousins

My mother-in-law's birthday was this week and she wanted a photo of all the grandkids for her birthday. So we all got together Sunday to get a picture....but when you're trying to get 4 kids under the age of 4 (and most of whom were missing their naptime) to cooperate, it gets a bit interesting. If you're a client who has worried about your kids not being completely gung-ho about taking pictures and I tell you not to worry....this is why! We did not get ONE picture of all the kids looking at the camera and smiling at the same time, but we did get some funny outtakes. And we all decided that next time we do this, someone needs to get a video of all the adults standing behind me acting like monkeys trying to get the kids to look and smile.

How to know you have a little boy....

This photo pretty much captures the girls' attitudes throughout the shoot; Charlotte smiling and cheery, Sienna distracted, and Evangeline crying.

We lost William....

It's sort of a lost cause at this point.

Thomas and Christopher had some fun with the kids (don't worry, they're behind that tree holding them)...

Swimming!

A few days ago, Jonathan's friends Chris and Austin brought Chris' nephews over for some swim time with William.
