Doc Roc

This weekend Rocky graduated from medical school. He and his wife were classmates of mine in college and I've had the pleasure of photographing their growing family several times over the past few years. Although they will be leaving soon for Rocky to start his life as an "official" doctor, they invited me out one last time to photograph a graduation reception they hosted at their home. Congratulations Doc Roc and family! I'm so happy for you all but you'll be missed!

I'm sorry guys, I had to post this family photo. There are others where Magnolia is smiling but she had this face on so much during the evening I thought it was more appropriate!

Happy Mother's Day!

My husband's family was almost all together this week for probably the last time this year, so we all got together and celebrated Mother's Day early. And of course we took some pictures...I realize I haven't posted very many family photos lately, so here are some of our ever-growing family complete with several very busy mammas! Below are the cousins... Notice all the girls who are old enough to know are looking at the camera and smiling and the boys are...well, I guess being boys....

Madison | Newborn

Meet little Madison. What a beautiful baby! She was born just a few weeks ago and joins two big brothers. She is going to be one tough little girl I think!

If you've followed my blog awhile, you've seen Ethan before. I can't believe how big he has gotten in just a year! And he still has such a great smile! Even though you wouldn't know it from this picture, Ethan has had a bit of a rough time lately and this two-year-old is waiting for a heart transplant. He's been in the hospital for several weeks, so I know he and the whole family would appreciate your prayers.

I know I've been gone a little while, and along those lines, I have some good news to share...our newest addition....

Santiago - A Birth Story

Wow. I photographed my first birth this past Monday/Tuesday. Although I've never done this before, it's something I've wanted to do for awhile and I was lucky enough that our good friends Will and Delilah were the ones to ask me.

I've known from the beginning that this was a big responsibility and I was honored and humbled to be asked to share in such a private, intimate occasion. Even though I knew witnessing the miracle of childbirth firsthand (and not from the point of view of the mother) would be an incredible experience in my head, I was still a little overwhelmed by all the emotions of the day. Delilah labored for 26 hours, mostly without an epidural, before their son Santiago was born. It was such a mix of determination and hope and struggle and sometimes doubt and uncertainty and a little fear and ultimately joy that I don't feel I can adequately narrate the story with words so I will just let my photos do the talking.

Bela is 1!

Well, I can't believe it's already been one year since I met this little girl and now almost four years since I met the rest of her family! I photographed Bela's One Year Session this past weekend and she is such a cutie with such a personality. Just look at that smile.
