Random Stuff/Baltimore

I'm feeling very random today. For example, I decided to cut my own hair. Yes, you read that right. For those of you who don't know what I look like, I have long hair that is layered....when we lived in Rome, my sister-in-law and I went to this guy named Massimo and he just pulled it straight up and whacked it off and he gave the best haircuts I've ever had, so I just tried to do that. I think I did an ok job. I'm not sure yet. Anyway, I decided to lump a bunch of photos together in one post rather than have a few tiny posts, so here you go...

These are from a Collegium trip I took before Christmas. Collegium is a choir that I've sung with since I was in college. We sing a capella polyphonic sacred music of the Catholic mass. We usually take a few trips a year to sing, and this one was particularly special because it was for the wedding of two Collegium members, Sean Lewis and Rebecca Horvak. There was a heavy fog the first night we arrived which made everything look eerily beautiful...

I'd never been to Baltimore or D.C., so one night a group of us decided to take the train to D.C. and try to get in as much site-seeing as we could. So this is, um, the back of the Capital building (it's a long story).

And here is the Christmas tree between the White House and the Washington Monument.

Fr. Ralph March came to the States from Hungary during the German occupation. He is now the Schola director. Here he is with his entourage.

The Baltimore Cathedral where the wedding took place. The oldest cathedral in the States. Absolutely gorgeus inside. Very gothic. Very Sean and Becca.

The favors were made by Becca's dad.



The reception was held in a cemetary of all places. It sounds morbid but it actually wasn't at all. It was an old church that was converted into a reception hall at some point in time and it was really beautiful. There were still some graves outside however....and among them was Edgar Allen Poe. We had to pay our respects...



We sang here the next day before leaving. Apparently it was designed by the same guy who designed the Capital.
