Omar & Maribel - She said yes!!!
Yesterday I had the great honor to witness the engagement of one of my best friends, Maribel. Her fiance Omar invited me to photograph the event, and it was something I will always treasure the memory of! I was so grateful to be able to be a part of such a big day in both of their lives and I am very, very happy for this wonderful couple.
Omar was very prepared. He, another of Mari's friends, Cali (I hope I spelled that right!), and myself met early to go over the plan. He even brought a map! He and Mari met while out dancing one night, and at the end of the night, they walked to a nearby bench where they talked for awhile. Omar said that because this bench was the place he had really "met" Mari, this was the place he wanted to ask her to be his wife too.
Cali had arranged to meet Mari for frozen yogurt just down the street from the bench, and after they bought their treats, they walked outside to "warm up". Cali suggested they sit down on the bench, then left to get something she "forgot" from her car. Omar then came up and surprised Maribel and the rest is history. I have to say, I can't even imagine how nervous Omar was leading up to the proposal because I was pretty nervous myself waiting with him and I wasn't even doing the proposing!
I thought Omar planned a pretty beautiful proposal, but one of the best things I thought he did was to invite Mari's family to be there. Here she is greeting her parents for the first time after the proposal.
Congratulations again to you guys. I love you!
