Matt's Senior Pics

Meet Matt. He's been on the blog before during basketball season and is one of this year's seniors. His mom Tracy and I also work together. This past weekend, they had me out to their home. It is so relaxing! They have a big pond and a lot of patio space. The mesquitoes however were not so accomodating. Tracy followed me around with a shirt to fan the mesquitoes off me while I follwed Matt around taking pictures. We must have looked pretty strange, but it was a good time.

Meagan and Johnathan's Maternity Photos

This is Meagan and Johnathan. They are having a baby boy in six weeks! I actually met them through my friend Mandi and we really clicked at our photo session Tuesday night. She and Johnathan were fun to hang out and shoot pictures with, and that always makes a session more enjoyable. They are going to be great parents!

Meagan is a first grade teacher, and this is her favorite children's book, already waiting for their child.

Taking this picture was kind of funny because their dog Teddy kept trying to run all over them. Laying on the floor means play time!!

The Pelletiers

The Pelletier family are close friends of ours. The youngest son, JP, and my husband Jonathan have been best friends since college and we were invited to his parents' house recently for a cookout. This is the first time in a couple years the whole family has been in one spot at one time, so we tried for a family photo. With 5 kids and 6 grandkids however, that turned out to be a bit of a spectator sport for me. It was quite entertaining, until we finally got the shot above with everyone in it....or so we thought....as we were taking this picture, another child emerged from the garage, blissfully unaware (or blissfully aware) that he was missing the photo.

So we tried again....

This is the second-oldest son Jimmy. He was on leave from his second tour of duty in Iraq.

Look at those kids! What a great family. Six kids and one on the way.

And of course, one of our chefs, Pat, cooking up some really good ribs....

Mandi and Joe's Maternity Pics

Meet Mandi and Joe. They've been on the blog before, but not yet in their own post. Mandi is one of my oldest friends. We've known each other since the fourth grade, and our lives recently have been pretty much mirroring each other. We got engaged, married, and pregnant all within a few months of each other. Now she and her husband Joe live in Dallas and are expecting their first child this summer. Joe is in medical school and has been waking up at 3 every morning to go to the hospital, so I'm sure the last thing he wanted to do was take pictures when he got home, but as you can see, he was a very good sport. Mandi had some great pictures like the one above, but she is very modest, and I figured posting even this one would be pushing the line!
I love taking pictures in general, but I especially love taking pictures of people I know, because when I capture a look or some part of that person's personality that I know to be unique to that person, it's really cool. On the other hand, when I turn the camera on people I know, especially when they're interacting with someone else, sometimes I capture a moment that I didn't expect at all and probably wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for the camera.

St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! When we got married almost three years ago, we received a grill as a wedding gift, but since we have lived in apartments and overseas since then, it has never been opened...until now. We finally broke out the grill this week, so besides it being St. Patrick's Day, breaking in the new grill was a great excuse to have everyone over.....and you know what that means! Yup, tons of pictures of Sienna!!!

We bought these hammocks on our honeymoon in Puerto Rico. They are so comfy and a perfect swing for Sienna...

I think Vic was actually telling me not to take a picture of her here, but I can't help it!! Sorry Vic!

What's St. Patty's without Guinness.....and margaritas? Oh well, at least they're green.

The chef....Sienna and Tino were getting along great at the beginning of the afternoon. He was following her everywhere, helping her pick up golf balls....

....but after a few hours that came to an abrupt halt. Tino was still ready to play though.

She just thought she wanted to go up in the tree.
